The staff at Ombudsman Office wants to encourage the community to visit not only their family members this holiday season, but visit residents who might not have anyone to spend time with them.

The holidays for many people bring together families and creates happiness. Unfortunately it also brings loneliness and sadness for people who do not have any family members to come visit them during the holidays. Staff at these residencies will often host family style holiday parties that welcome family members to come visit and eat with their loved ones. It can really make a difference to make sure that the residents have warm clothing, cozy blankets, fuzzy socks, and a good book.

If you do not have a family member or loved one in a long term care facility you can always make a visit to spend time with some residents that do not have anyone to come see them during the holidays.

You can reach out to long term care facility in your neighborhood and see if you can volunteer and help with the residents living there.
